โ€œAnd he will love thee, and bless thee, and multiply thee: he will also bless the fruit of thy womb, and the fruit of thy land, thy corn, and thy wine, and thy oil, the increase of thy kine, and the flocks of thy sheep, in the land which he swore unto thy fathers to give thee.โ€

Do you know your worth? It is hard when we have others degrade and bash us for existing in society. We are ROYALTY!! Our ancestors were regarded as leaders of their tribes back in the Motherland. Although our White counterparts treat us less than, it is imperative to learn and know that we are of royalty.

A great place to honor our lineage is in our relationships. Black love is a beautiful thing! Treating our partners as Kings/Queens and receiving the same love increases the coupleโ€™s bond, and it goes tenfold in their children. When the children witness the love, respect, and honor that both parents display in front of their children, it affects their behaviors. It decreases the likelihood of them becoming truant in school and decreases negative behaviors (theft, abuse, etc.). Showing genuine love in front of your children is something that they would demonstrate to their children when they become adults.

As March draws to a close, remember to continue to honor and celebrate your Black Marriage. As we celebrate our Black Heritage because February is not enough, the same goes towards Black Marriage. The more we display healthy and loving relationships within our Black communities, the more we will normalize it and push away the depiction of what mainstream media portrays our relationships.

You are KINGS and QUEENS!!
