March is National Nutrition Month
Today there are many healthy eating options and fads trending on social media.
Ever heard: thy food is thy medicine?
Well, that phrase was pinned back in 400BC, and it came from the Greek physician Hippocrates, who is known as the 'Father of Medicine, depending on your social circle. He said, "Let thy food be thy medicine and thy medicine be thy food." Food has impacted the health of humans, at least since then.
Have you noticed how the sizes of snacks, drinks, etc., have changed over the past few years? Also, the emphasis now on "clean" eating and "organic" foods? Would you have ever thought there would be "politics of nutrition"? There has been a relatively recent rise of diet-related chronic diseases, including obesity, type 2 diabetes, cardiovascular diseases, and several cancers.
According to research, this rise is partly due to the industry and consumers' approach to nutrition.
What better time to become more educated on nutrition and its benefits on overall health than now during NATIONAL NUTRITION MONTH!!
